MADI Board News

The MADI Executive Board met for the annual end of the year meeting last Sunday, June 6th. The full minutes of the meeting will be posted on our website shortly.

To review the highlights: Sadly stepping down from the board is Liz and Chip Bienia, Regional Drs. of Region 1 (Western MA) and Kim Gaudet Cole, our Region 3 (North Middlesex) Regional Dr. We are pleased to know they will continue to be involved in our program and thank them or their many years of service ad dedication. The Board also welcomed Mark Jenkins and Brian Mann who will serve as Co-Regional Drs of Region 3, and Alyssa and Vicki Smith who will serve as Co-Regional Drs of Region 1.

Chelsea Klein, our Affiliate Challenge Master for Rising Stars has moved into an Alumni Coordinator position. Anyone interested in applying for our open seat as Rising Star ACM can contact Barb or Regina.

New for 2011 – the Board voted to adopt minimum standards needed for teams to advance if unopposed at state sponsored tournaments. The actual policy will be posted and on our website and reviewed in the fall at all coordinator mtgs. The board also voted to keep all fees the same for 2011. ALL MA FEES WILL STAY THE SAME WITH NO INCREASES.

ALUMNI NEWS: Chelsea Klein will be working to organize all MADI alumni. We know there are countless talented young adults out there who are eager to give back to "DI". Hopefully this year, our alumni will sponsor and run some events for MADI. Please help us find and locate and involve as many interested alumni as possible. Send their information to Chelsea at cklein@madikids.org or join our Facebook page: go to EDIT FRIENDS and type in MADI. Thanks!

If you are attending a DI Camp this summer – enjoy the extra experience.

To all those waiting for next fall...HAVE A GREAT SUMMER. Barb

Think Summer - Think DI

This year WPI and DI have joined together to bring DI@WPI on campus this summer. The program is a day long program open to kids in grades 3-8. The program runs for 2 consecutive weeks Monday-Friday. Participants will be grouped into teams of 6-7 according to age. Grades 3-5 will participate in the elementary session and grades 6-8 in the middle school session. Each session will involve team building activities, instant challenges, a central challenge, and a presentation of the challenge to the group at the end of the session. DI curriculum for challenges will be used and all materials will be supplied.

For more info visit the WPI website and visit the information table at each tournament!

SUMMER DI CAMP AT WPI! $500 OFF!!

This a brand new and we are hoping it is a grand success so we can expand this to an overnight camp in the future. Spread the word to anyone you know in the Worcester area - elementary age or middle school. They DO NOT have to be in DI or know DI to have a blast DOING DI this summer. WPI wants to see more registrations and have decided to offer teams $500 off a team registration of 7. Spread the word.
